Nucleoelectrica Argentina S.A. Installed a new internationally monitored environmental station for the Atucha Nuclear Complex

Friday 4 November 2022

The state-of-the-art facility was delivered by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and works autonomously from the Dr. Melillo Training Center in Lima, Zárate district.

The equipment collects data on the environment and weather conditions in the area that are monitored by the University of Rovira i Virgili in Spain, an institution designated by the IAEA for the development and installation of the station.

Soon, we will place a similar environmental station near Embalse Nuclear Power Plant, located in the province of Córdoba.

The objective of this activity is to develop a real-time environmental and radiological monitoring network, made up of two analytical stations with remote technical and scientific support from the Spanish university.

We are committed to caring for the environment, the towns near the nuclear power plants and the people who live there. This issue is taken into account in each phase that make up the construction and production cycle. In this sense, we assume an environmental policy that focuses on continuously adapting environmental management to applicable regulations, promoting the training of personnel in caring for the environment, communicating our policy and continuously improving performance in this regard.
