Safety is our main value

The nuclear industry is one of the industries that invests the most in safety. In nuclear power plants, safety is an essential operating condition.

The operation of nuclear power plants is conditioned by their safety systems. The plants were designed to be safe and, through their years of operation, the plant systems have been updated.

In addition, the operation is regulated and controlled by national and international organizations, which regularly monitor the processes of the nuclear power plants.

The Argentine National State controls and oversees nuclear activity through the Nuclear Regulatory Authority (ARN). In turn, our country is a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which sets mandatory standards.

Nucleoeléctrica Argentina adheres to safety standards and international treaties. The company is a member of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) and the Group Operators of Power Plants with CANDU Technology (COG).

Safety in every stage

The construction of nuclear power plants is regulated by national and international organizations. All of its components were manufactured following strict nuclear quality standards, certification and quality processes.

The protection of workers is achieved under the application of National Law 19.857 on Occupational Health and Safety. In nuclear power plants these measures are enhanced.

Radioprotection

Plant workers who enter radiologically controlled areas are monitored and comply with an annual exposure limit set by the Nuclear Regulatory Authority and international regulations.
