During this first year of work, the project has reached 44% progress, with significant advances in the modernization of essential systems and the optimization of key processes. Once completed, these upgrades will ensure Atucha I continues to operate safely and efficiently, reinforcing nuclear power as a reliable energy source for the country’s development.

The Atucha I Life Extension Project is one of Argentina’s most important infrastructure undertakings. Its completion will not only guarantee safe and reliable energy for another 20 years, but also reaffirm the nation’s commitment to the peaceful use of nuclear technology, strengthen industrial and technological capabilities, and demonstrate Nucleoeléctrica’s capacity to deliver large-scale projects that contribute to national energy security.

Located in Lima, Zárate, Atucha I was the first nuclear power plant in Latin America. In June it celebrated 51 years since the start of its commercial operation. Since 1974, it has continuously generated clean, safe, and reliable electricity for millions of Argentines, establishing itself as a cornerstone of the national energy matrix.

One year into this strategic initiative, Atucha I is steadily moving forward to continue powering Argentina’s future.
